The UKMEAC is a Forum for the exchange of information and best practise
on environmental practises within semiconductor wafer manufacturers.
The Forum meets regularly and is attended by representatives from
the industry itself, specialist consultants in the field and by representatives
from relevant Government organisations such as the Dept
of Trade & Industry, The
Environment Agency and the Scottish
Environmental Protection Agency.
In recent times, UKMEAC has considered the impact of such standards
as Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC), proposed
restrictions on Per Fluoro Octane Sulphonate (PFOS), Waste Electrical
and Electronics Equipment (WEE), Restrictions on Hazardous Substances
(RoHS) and many others.
UKMEAC also provides a forum for consultation on forthcoming legislation
and a mechanism to feedback to policy makers on the impacts of new
regulations.
