Newsletter December 2006 |
|
This years AGM and Awards Dinner saw NMI commemorate its 10th birthday and sign its 100th member. The occasion was marked in the company of the great and the good and NMI staff celebrated the evening with members and professionals from a formidable cross-section of the industry.
The evening witnessed great anticipation and excitement as it began with 99 members and high hopes of welcoming the 100th during the night. We were not to be disappointed and James Foster, CEO of Xmos Ltd., requested membership for his aspirational Bristol-based fabless start-up. James is an old friend of NMI having joined previously when he was CEO at Oxford Semiconductor and it was fitting to welcome him back with his new venture.
Having weathered some tough times in recent years we were very pleased to celebrate the successes of 2006 by paying tribute to those sparkling exemplars of the industry here. This year NMI made seven awards for performance, innovation and personal contribution across the industry. |

|
Well wishes for 2007 |

You may be surprised to learn that in 2006 NMI ran and partnered 25 industry events spanning business, design, product introduction and manufacturing. We produced more reports and surveys than ever before: regular business confidence reports, our first ever design survey, we’ve started a road-mapping activity in design verification, we produced a private equity guide with a public funding guide hot on its heels. We have also extended our reach into Europe and beyond as we carry out our mission to catalyse a confident, healthy and vibrant microelectronics industry. Next year we plan to do even more, more events, more reports, more tangible products and services and of course more partners and members. |
