In 2001, Mr Ekelund was one of the founding fathers for Ericsson’s wireless chipset company, Ericsson Mobile Platforms, and has been part of its executive management up until the merger, forming the ST Ericsson joint venture. With close to 25 years in wireless applications, Björn Ekelund is today responsible for ecosystem creation, collaborative R&D and external innovation in ST-Ericsson, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.

During his career, Mr Ekelund has been leading research, standardization, product development and marketing in a wide range of wireless technologies including GSM, TDMA, DECT, PDC, WCDMA, HSPA, LTE, Bluetooth and Satellite.

Mr. Ekelund holds a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering and a post-graduate Licentiate degree in microelectronics and communications theory from Lund University.
