This short "taster" programme  is designed to introduce and help  senior management teams in two ways.  First, it aims to enhance strategic analysis within the organization by delivering a series of workshops covering the tools and techniques of strategic management.  Second, since the workshops have a highly practical orientation, the emphasis will be on translating from analysis to key decisions and into profitable actions.  Through an innovative balance of seminars, intensive team workshops and focussed one-to-one support, the programme will combine proven tools and techniques, state of the art research and real “hands-on” strategic innovation. The primary focus will be on the development of disciplined analysis and thinking via the seminars and  the production of a clear outline plan followed by a series of on-site team-based workshops to help turn the plan into a productive stream of ongoing innovation within each participating organization. Where appropriate, this process can be augmented by tailored one-one support and coaching.

The backbone of the programme’s strategic development process is a simple iterative sequence of five consecutive topic areas that cover

  1. Intent … the development of strategic purpose and goals
  2. Foresight … market and competitor analysis, environmental scanning and scenario work
  3. Capabilities … internal competences, sources of competitiveness
  4. Options … generation and selection of strategic options
  5. Implementation … execution and operationalising the strategy.
