Through our constant dialogue with our members we fully appreciate
the pressure on costs that each site is faced with. Perhaps the
most common area of focus for Engineers and Purchasing Managers
is on equipment spare parts. Many issues occur such as high cost,
service, availability, high cost of inventory storage, redundant
stock etc.
The NMI attempts to help its members in this area through many
different approaches such as:
- Sourcing parts within the membership during emergency down time
using the equipment database
- Populating a recommended suppliers database for members to
find alternative sources
- Connecting new suppliers with members
The latest development we are working towards is the creation a
virtual stockroom where our members can sell their slow moving stock,
redundant stock and buy parts from other sites and sources.
