The NMI is committed to supplying useful comparison
information for its members and stakeholders in order to identify
areas of best practice, efficiency and performance. Furthermore,
it is vital that we understand the capabilities of each site in
order to best represent and promote our members.
During 2005 we constructed and populated a detailed database that
we can now draw many reports from and thus provide valuable information
to our members.
The main areas of study have been:
Human Resources - including
salaries, benefits, headcounts, staffing statistics etc
Production Performance and Capabilities
– including industry standard measures, Lean manufacturing,
technology capabilities and capacity
Equipment Engineering –
including common tool performance comparisons and alternative suppliers
etc.
Purchasing – including
preferred vendors and suppliers, outsourcing activities etc
Training and Development –
including Direct and Indirect Labour development and up-skilling
Successful Projects –
Areas where companies have had significant benefits
All reports are in an anonymous format and company names are only
released when consent is given.
