Description

Aspex Semiconductor (Aspex) is a fabless semiconductor company developing high performance video compression technology for high definition video processing applications, based around our patented, software programmable Aspex Compression Engine (ACE) IP block. Aspex will supply ACE on a licence-only basis or can offer a complete SOC design service. The ACE core can be used to build an ASIC that in turn can be used, either as a single device or as multiple cascaded devices, to implement a family of high quality H.264, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 encoders, decoders and transcoders, supporting video resolutions up to and including1080p60.

Aspex has been working in the High Definition video compression market since 2006 when, together with leading software partners, Aspex developed complete board-level solutions based on it’s previous Linedancer device, for High Definition H.264 & MPEG2 video compression, where our Accelera PC plug-in cards are used by leading broadcast & post-production OEMs such as Sorenson Media and Digital Rapids.

Aspex is currently implementing ACE for a major customer in a standard 0.065u CMOS foundry (TSMC).
