UK Electronics Systems Community

If your business is involved somewhere along the lifecycle of what you would recognise as Electronic Systems; and it has a base in the UK with a staff of >0, then you are by definition, a Member of the UK Smart Electronic Systems Community.

Limited studies indicate that there is a community of >20,000 businesses employing more than a million people and contributing significantly to the UK Economy. Yet because of the difficulty with old classifications, a hardware / software tradition that divides us and the fact that our skills are often embedded in industries for which our product is not the primary business objective (automotive, aerospace, consumer etc) only around 7,000 are identifiable today. As a result we lack the common identity that would enable greater voice and influence.

There are indications that many of these operations are very small, but there is also evidence that many (even most) are thriving in what is an internationally competitive marketplace. We believe we represent a very credible but non-traditional UK business resource, already World-class in many respects, capable of much more together than apart - and that is this is our purpose for bringing this comunity together.

NMI is well connected to UK and European Government and its Institutions; the University Research community; and other Industry Associations.  We consider it imperative that our messages align with the reality of your world. So please help us to help you, by making sure we know how to contact you and by giving us a few lines of guidance about the issues in your life.

As you are by definition a member of this community, giving us your information comes with no further obligation. Of course Membership of NMI offers additional benefits and we would be delighted should you decide to join us and participate more fully in our efforts to build this connected community.
